Alan Goldman, Ph.D.
I’m Alan Goldman, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Physics at Iowa State University, and founder of SynchXray, LLC. I’ve used synchrotron radiation as a research method for advanced material characterization for more than 40 years, and have been an expert consultant within the pharmaceutical industry and materials laboratories for ten years, using synchrotron x-ray powder diffraction in support of litigation involving patent infringement.
I earned a Ph.D. in Physics from Stony Brook University, graduating in 1984 with a specialization in x-ray and neutron scattering as probes of atomic order in solids.
Originally from Long Island, New York, I moved to Iowa in 1988 to pursue my academic career and, after retiring from ISU in 2020, now live in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
While academia has been an integral part of my life, so is my passion for SynchXray LLC, and my deep understanding of how x-ray diffraction can directly and significantly impact product discovery, development and protection. I’m ready to take on new clients and challenges, with full knowledge that x-ray diffraction provides clear-cut solutions to difficult problems.
